President Washington wrote plainly “that without God the Divine Author of their religion, Americans could never hope to be a lasting nation.” Founders prayed & proclaimed what is inscribed on the Philadelphia Liberty Bell from Lev. 25:10 “Proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants thereof.” Today, America’s hope for the future is to be reintroduced to God and recommitted to righteousness! America’s only hope is leaders who honor God and a National Revival where bars and dens of iniquity are shut down, families are reconciled and people become sober in their pursuit of God.
E. We Need a Renewed Love for God
There is a void that people seek to fill. But the only person that can fill this void is Jesus! He is the source of Freedom, forgiveness & foundation of our civilization. We must make God first in our life, since the problems in our world are only settled with a revelation of His purpose in relationship with Him! The Bible (the centerpiece of our Nation’s Constitution) shows we are called to look to God for life, provision and purpose NOT government. In recent years, we've seen sinister ideologies sow confusion and discord among our people. We've witnessed attacks on our history, our religion, on our heroes, and on the cherished moral and spiritual identity of this great nation. These voices have sought to distort “the self-evident truth” we know so well, and that our founders boldly proclaim in the Declaration: that our rights do NOT derive from the government, they come from God, our Creator and Heavenly Father. When people are taught to look to government or politicians to care for them, they will
anywhere you want to and get God’s blessings. But, if you dig for a major oil reserve in your yard, you are more likely to hit a water line or sewage line. To get Oil you must dig where there are large deposits of Oil. That’s why you need to get your family in the Word of God, Prayer, a Faith Preaching Church, and be part of a Spirit-filled support family of believers! This Power we all need, helps us rise above hard times, be witnesses of God in our places of influence, and endues us with the power to chase after righteousness. Because of this:
D. We Need the Convicting & Intervening Power of Prayer
National Revival often begins with people coming under deep conviction and crying out in confession and repentance for their sins. Its been said “Revival doesn’t occur outside the atmosphere of prayer”. This is why Prayer must be central to our Nation’s 250th Birthday! Prayer changes people and circumstances! This begins with our heart and time with God. History reveals that weeks before declaring independence, the Second Continental Congress recommended that May 17, 1776, be observed throughout the colonies as “a day of humiliation, fasting, and prayer”. That moment set a pattern that echoed through the centuries by presidents of every era. President Ronald Reagan once called the image of George Washington on his knees at Valley Forge “the most sublime picture in American history.” The strength of this nation was never rooted in its armies or ambitions, but in its dependence on the intervening Power of Almighty God. It was by God’s mercy and grace that our Founders overcame the
