It was built in the XII century by the Saxons, on the shore of Tarnava Mare.
Here tourists can visit the defense walls, the towers (the Clock Tower which
is a must see, 64 m tall, Smiths’ Tower, Butchers’ Tower, Tailors’ Tower,
Furriers’ Tower), the churches (The Church from The Hill, The Romano-
Catholic Church), the squares (Fortress Square, Hermann Oberth Square) and
many others.
What is really interesting about this city is the fact that it was built inside the
fortress’ walls.
The symbol of Sighisoara city is the Clock Tower, with the 7 figurines
representing the days of the week. Nowadays tourist are visiting Sighisoara
to see the house where Dracula was born.
