BURJ NAHAR
Further into Deira on Omar bin Al
Khattab road, you will find Burj Nahar,
one of three inland-facing watchtowers
that were used to guard Dubai from attack
by hostile desert tribes. Built in 1870 and
set amongst beautiful gardens, Burj Nahar
is a fine example of an old watchtower and
is a wonderful photo opportunity.
JUMEIRAH MOSQUE
Situated on Jumeirah Beach Road, the
enchanting Jumeirah Mosque with its huge
central dome is the best known mosque in
Dubai. Non-muslims can visit the mosque
through an organised tour with the Sheikh
Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding.

THE DUBAI FOUNTAIN AND LAKE RIDE
The Dubai Fountain was designed by
California-based WET, the creators
of the Bellagio Fountain in Las Vegas,
and is 275 metres long with five circles
and two central arcs. Over 6,600
lights and 50 colour projectors create
a breathtaking show syncronised with
classical, Arabic and world music.
Shows run at 1pm and 1.30pm and
then every 30 minutes from 6pm to
11pm Sunday to Wednesday, and
11.30pm Thursday to Saturday. The
Dubai Fountain is located next to The
Dubai Mall and entrance is free.
And now you have the opportunity to navigate the 30-acre Burj Lake (home to
The Dubai Fountain) on an Abra. Each Abra can accommodate 6 people and will
navigate a defined path that doesn’t interfere with the fountain’s grid.
Boats operate every 30 minutes between 5.45pm and 11.15pm, Saturday to
Thursday (rides are held between performances to ensure your safety).
Price is Dhs 65 and the ticket counter and Abra bay are located at the waterfront
promenade of The Dubai Mall.
