Teachers meet every week with a team leader to design tailor made activities,
read articles and now they are focusing on the use of computers. They must
follow the curriculum (2011), which they find difficult to follow because of the
extensive content, and comply with the aims of the municipality.
Language and foreign language learning
Most students choose English as the 1 st foreign language, and Spanish as the
2 nd foreign Language. They do not use
CLIL approaches. Swedish is the
mother tongue for most students. 8% of students are new comers (20 languages)
and they are considered newly arrived students for 4 years. The methodology
used in language and foreign language classrooms is very traditional. They use
textbooks which are grammar-oriented and practise the writing skill extensively.
The speaking skill deserves special attention for newcomers, who attend
Swedish lessons in homogeneous groups, according to their level and are asked
to participate in speaking clubs with their families.
