The Trinity: Quaerens
Quaerens, to seek. The seeking of Christ, the Son of God, who sought God’s people first
and continues to do so through the sacramental life of the Church. The word sacrament being
defined by the Council of Trent, 1545 - 1563, as “a holy thing that lies concealed and hidden.” 109
The Albigensians turned away from the sacraments, they lost their way and “profaned the
sacraments of Christ.” 110 The sacraments requiring form and matter; matter being evil to the
perfected held no importance for them. Christ could not be revealed to the perfected as their
doors were closed to Him. The Church teaches her people to cleave “‘to the teaching of the Holy
