Dynamic Women help Children
The Dynamic Women for Children organisation was founded in 2008. This dynamic organisation is especially involved with Plot 177; an informal settlement in the Kameeldrift region, where they have already made a huge impact on the lives of specifically the vulnerable children. However, much help is needed to maintain the good work being done at these care centres. Currently twenty five families live in appalling conditions. Old pigsties were transformed into “living units” by simply adding a window, a door and a roof. Unfortunately, these humble units are rented to families (that can be regarded as the poorest of the poor) at high costs. The property does not have any running water and electricity is only available at certain times of the day for each family. Since 2012, twenty of the thirty four children from age three to thirteen of Plot 177 have been placed in the pre-primary and primary school in Kameelfontein. The children are transported to and from the school. In October 2012 a Dynamic Women for Children Private Care Centre was opened directly next to the school. After school care is now given to the learners. The focus of this organisation is to get the children out of their impoverished circumstances and to give them a chance in life. The children are provided with as much exposure as possible to get them to turn their heads and break the cycle of poverty. Teenage pregnancies are a huge problem. Most of the young mothers are between the ages of fifteen and sixteen. During school holidays all thirty four kids are taken care of at the care centre on a full-time basis. They are provided with three meals per day and they are sometimes taken on field trips. The volunteer teachers help the children on an individual basis to get their schoolwork up to date and in line with the school curriculum.
Dynamic Women for Children are dependent on donors to operate the care centre. The biggest expenses are food and fuel, to transport the children. The current vehicle is too small to transport all the children. They desperately need a 20+ seated bus. The care centre property is not owned by Dynamic Women for Children. The plan is to buy the property and to build a boarding school.
Donations of clothes, furniture, household appliances etc. can be delivered to Plot 177, Tamboti road, Spioenkop Kameeldrift East, or it can be collected from your home.
We, at Devoted, believe that we can all do our part to help the children rise from their impoverished circumstances in order to give them a better chance to become independent, successful adults. Up to now the successes of this project have been phenomenal. All glory to God for the staff and members of Dynamic Women for Children for paying it forward.
