Rejoice
Rebirth in Christ
Someone once told me that the breath of a new born baby is the most wonderful smell. That baby has never eaten anything in his or her life, and this smell can be seen as the smell of true life, free of all worldly pollution. This explanation brings words like clean, heavenly, serene and free of all sins to mind. Luckily you can associate yourself with these words for a second time, after you have chosen to be reborn in Jesus Christ. Being reborn in Jesus Christ doesn’t mean that you are going to become a screaming baby again; it means that you will have a fresh start in life, with Jesus as your Saviour, Guide, Father and Friend. This means that you have chosen to repent of all your sins and to start living your life as God intended. Sure, it is going to be difficult because we are only human and sinful but with the help of Jesus Christ it is possible. In Paul Kroll’s article The miracle of rebirth, he writes: “We were born to be reborn. You and I are meant to experience the greatest life change of all – a spiritual one. God has designed us so we can share or participate in His divine nature.”

Imagine sitting on the beach at dawn, a cool breeze sweeping through your hair. You take a deep breath of fresh air and it feels as if you can’t get enough of the birth of this new day surrounding you. In my mind that is what it feels like to be reborn in Christ. It is a rush that fills your mind, body and soul with the realisation that the Lord Jesus Christ, is our Saviour. The breeze that fills your lungs also comes with the promise that the God whom lives in that breeze will always be there to catch you if you fall.
Being reborn in Christ is not an easy thing, but if you give your mind, body and soul to Him and you trust Him with everything, He will never let you down. For this reason God sent us the Holy Spirit to help us understand Him better and to help us to stay on the right path, the path He has laid out for us. You have to let go of all the things in your past that held you back from belonging to Jesus one hundred percent and put your trust in Him. Even though He is almighty, He rejoices for every one of His children that finds their way back to His loving arms. In John 3:3 Jesus says to Nicodemus: Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God". Nicodemus then asked him how a person could be born if he is already an old man, and Jesus replied: "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit".
