Q : What factors made you decide on the resort and destination you chose ? K & R : We decided on Dreams Macao Beach in Punta Cana ; we have been to a destination wedding at a Dreams Resort before and loved the experience . We also loved that Dreams Resorts offers Preferred Club rooms , which all our guests upgraded to , so we could eat at the Preferred Club restaurants , lounges and spend time together at the designated pool areas , too .
The resort location was also a selling point , since it wasn ’ t too far from the airport , and the beach and surrounding landscape was stunning for a wedding backdrop . We loved that there were a lot of activities nearby , so our guests could take advantage of tours and excursions offered at the resort . One afternoon , we took the entire group on a power boat cruise , where we were able to swim , snorkel and hang out by ourselves in the amazing clear water .
Q : What amenities did the resort offer that you felt your guests would love ? K & R : Many of our guests booked the swim-out suites , allowing everyone to come together to hang out for some late-night room service , drinks and celebrating . We also loved the variety of restaurants , bars and entertainment . Our morning latte and donuts at the Coco Café was a great way to start our day . The taco truck in the water park area was great for a quick lunch or afternoon snack , and it was fun to have our group reserve a hibachi table at Himitsu .
Q : What was the wedding-planning process like ? How was your team at the resort ? K & R : Once we reserved the date , we had a several months before we needed to connect with our wedding planner at the resort . We were a bit nervous . When you are planning a wedding in your hometown , you are constantly planning and reaching out to vendors for availability , versus a destination wedding at an all-inclusive resort where the vendors are already lined up and ready to go . When we got within three months of our wedding date , we were assigned a wedding
planner at the resort who walked us through the options we had for the package we booked plus any extras we wanted to consider . We continued to reach out to her up until we arrived at the resort . Upon our arrival , she set up time to meet with us so we could make any last-minute changes as well as finalize the locations for the welcome party , wedding and reception .
Q : Can you tell me about your wedding décor and flowers ? K & R : We worked with the florist recommended by the resort and had a call about a month prior to the wedding to talk through our ideas . We loved the natural bohemian look which used pampas grass , as we knew with a beachfront wedding , they would be beautiful blowing in the ocean breeze . To save a little bit of money , we did have the staff take the aisle flowers and the wedding arch to the reception , so we didn ’ t have to purchase additional décor items . We also added a few extras for the reception including string lights , a light-up “ I Do ” sign , a lighted dance floor , photo booth and a latenight dessert and snack bar .
