Dr . Portia Hunt , LLC , is the President of Eclipse Consultant Group , which specializes in DEI training in Philadelphia . She has also worked at the National Center for Family Recovery ( 2005 ) and Portia Hunt and Associates ( 1981 ). Her areas of specialty are Diversity Training for Businesses , Leadership , and Education , African American Ethnicity and Culture , and Cultural Competence for Educators and Psychologists . She is Professor Emerita of Counseling Psychology at Temple University , and has served as Program Chair , Clinical Director and Doctoral Student Advisor . Dr . Hunt received her Doctoral Degree in Counseling Psychology from Indiana State University and her Master ’ s Degree in Counselor Education from Southern Illinois University .

Ensuring member diversity in group project teams can help students develop important professional skills and may lead to improved group products . However , diverse student groups can also experience challenges and conflict . Instructors who consider elements of student diversity when selecting group members should be aware of several important considerations . Once groups are formed , instructors can incorporate several strategies to maximize student success , including team-building assignments , cultural value maps , and establishing group rules . Finally , instructors should incorporate specific assessments to evaluate the group product as well as individual student contributions at the conclusion of the group project .
