Ashley Viechweg hails from Brooklyn , NY , and is a graduate of the New York Public School System . Her bachelor ’ s degree in Geology and Biology is from Hamilton College . Her master ’ s degree is from National University . She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at Gwynedd Mercy University . Ashley Viechweg is a firm believer in equitable public education . She has worked at the School District of Philadelphia for the past 15 years , where she has been a middle school science teacher , academic science coach , and science curriculum specialist . Her professional goal is to provide high-quality science education to all students she serves .
Lawrence F . Jones , Jr ., is a long time educator , community servant and advocate for public education . He is currently the Founding CEO of the Richard Allen Preparatory Charter School , Inc ., a comprehensive middle charter school located in Southwest Philadelphia . He has worked as a teacher , coordinator , and educational consultant . Mr . Jones was educated in the Abington Public District and is a graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta , GA . He received his Masters of Elementary Education , and Principal ’ s certification training from Arcadia University in Glenside , PA . He is currently pursuing doctoral studies at Gwynedd Mercy University . Mr . Jones lives in Abington , PA where he is active in the community , having held elected office ( Township Commissioner ) and served on various boards and committees .
Mindy Nguyen-Balli is an elementary-loyal teacher at heart having taught first grade for 15 years before switching to administration . She has always taught in public , urban environments because she believes that all students should have access to committed teachers . Her passions in education have been socio-emotional learning , character development , arts-integration , and social justice teaching . After graduating with a BS and MS in Education from Penn , Mindy taught in Brooklyn before returning to Philly as the Museum Educator Liaison to Public Schools at the PMA . In 2008 , she went back to the classroom as a founding teacher of the Chester Charter Scholars Academy where she currently serves as the Director of Arts Integration and Curriculum . Mindy is also a staff member of SEED ( Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity ), which has been instrumental in her evolution as a social justice teacher since 1996 .
