S3 Spain Trip
Written by Nuala Kelly-Towie, S4
Just after the summer holidays in September there was an S3 school trip to Spain. The trip allowed the S3 ' s to learn more about Spanish culture and language. They travelled by airplane to Andalusia and then they stayed in Águilas.
There were 30 pupils who went on the trip and it was £ 889 for each pupil. On the trip with them was Mr Lindsay, Mrs Mancini and Mrs Leddingham. Students did salsa dancing, a waterpark trip, had a dip in the Mediterranean Sea, visited Spanish civil war bunkers and visited the Museum of Issac Peral( who invented the submarine) in Cartagena. I have spoken to a few S3 pupils who went on the trip and they all said that it was amazing and really good fun. The trip sounds like it was a huge success between the pupils and the teachers and there is another S3 school trip to Spain organised for the future.
Mrs Ledingham Said …
Last September, a group of Spanish and French S3 pupils set off on a remarkable adventure to the South of Spain to a language and water sport school. Pupils braved paddleboards and kayaks along the sun-soaked coast, many trying these activities for the very first time. This was also a baptism of fire for our trip leaders. History came alive during a visit to the ancient ruins of Cartagena. Wandering through Roman theatres and centuries-old streets, pupils discovered the city’ s past. A powerful workshop on the Spanish Civil War helped them understand the conflict’ s impact and its lasting influence on modern Spain.
Of course, no trip to Spain would be complete without a taste of local culture. Pupils sampled traditional dishes, exploring new flavours and favourites along the way. Later, they swapped dinner plates for dancing shoes during lively salsa lessons, showing off some surprisingly impressive moves.
One of the highlights of the trip was our visit the water park, where slides, wave pools, and lazy rivers provided a day of nonstop fun. Whether racing down high-speed flumes or drifting under the sun, the smiles … and staff screams were impossible to miss. It was a shared experience that brought everyone closer together and one they will remember forever.
