European Day of Languages: Celebrating Our Diversity
Written by Mrs Leddingham
To mark European Day of Languages, our S6 students led an inspiring presentation on the importance of languages in our daily lives. They highlighted how the food we enjoy, the music we listen to, the art we appreciate, and even the festivals we celebrate are shaped by a rich mix of cultures and languages from around the world.
The event also featured some amazing live performances. Maya sang a beautiful French rendition of an Edith Piaf classic, while Rose delighted everyone with a song from Encanto. Their performances showcased not only linguistic skill but also the power of music to connect cultures.
One of the highlights of the celebration was our S1 pupils who speak another language at home. They proudly shared a poem, song, or sentence in their own language, giving the whole school community a glimpse into their cultural heritage.
The day was a vibrant celebration of our school’ s diversity and multiculturalism, reminding us that languages enrich our lives and bring us closer together.
