WSCA Board Meeting Minutes

Sandy shared she will be working with Julie Gintner on a scholarship procedure .
Publicity : Lori Taylor
The new 2024-2025 Royalty in attendance shared their upcoming events they plan on attending . Their schedule for the next couple months includes attending the general meeting and banquet , the Crazy Horse Market , Winter Carnival parade , Arena Trailer Sales Event , Skijoring , saddle club banquets , bell ringing , the NFR in Las Vegas and possibly a polar plunge . The new court will be helping out at the awards banquet . Lori requests that the Board approve the cost for the outgoing courts jackets . Each 2023-2024 court member met all of the requirements and mandatory events expected of them during their reign .
A motion was made by Karson Duncanson , seconded by Amber Duncanson , to approve the cost to purchase the outgoing courts jackets . Motion carried unanimously .
Royalty : Bridget Behrns
The silent auction held during Champ Show by the contestants raised $ 6,150 . Half of that amount goes to WSCA and the other half will be divided amongst the new royalty court . The raffle raised $ 10,941 , which is divided between WSCA and the royalty contest . A $ 400 donation was made that will be put towards the court ’ s buckles . Bridget and her team were congratulated on a very successful silent auction and raffle .
A motion was made by Karson Duncanson , seconded by Lori Taylor , to approve the payments made to the new royalty court members , based on the results of the silent auction and raffle sales . Motion carried unanimously .
There was a contestant who chose to drop out of this year ’ s contest prior to the Royalty banquet . She is requesting that her $ 70 application fee and $ 55 tack stall fee be refunded . It was noted that the contestant had received her application packet and raffle tickets in the mail prior to dropping out of the contest . The board discussed that in year ’ s past , contestants who dropped out of the contest were not refunded . There while this is the first time a contestant has requested a refund , a clause should be put on Royalty application that application fees and stall fees are non-refundable .
A motion was made by Ann Goebel , seconded by Julie Gintner , to deny this request for refund , and any future requests for refunds from royalty contestants , unless reason being similar to a medical emergency , once the contestant has sent in their application . Motion carried unanimously .
Rulebook : Cindy Ladd
Cindy has everything set for voting on the 5 rulebook petitions being presented for voting at the general meeting . Copies of the petitions will be available to handout to the general delegation as well as displayed in the power point . A request was made to the Board to add clarification to the term “ Reasonable Accommodation ” as written in the Americans with Disabilities ( ADA ) and what that might look like for WSCA . If approved by the Board , this would be listed under the ADA statement in the rulebook .
A motion was made Lori Taylor , seconded by Karson Duncanson , to approve the clarification as presented , and to add it to the rulebook under the current ADA statement . Motion carried unanimously .
