North High School’s Latino student dance troupe LaFeE will transform the afternoon with their colorful costumes as they perform dances choreographed to commemorate events in the culture and history of the Latino people. An Exciting Spring Ed-Venture & Travel Info for Adults of All Ages Historic Forestville and Mystery Cave Tour Venture to southern Minnesota for a day packed with history and geology. Our first stop is Historic Forestville, a restored 1850’s village that was once a thriving community. Enjoy a guided walking tour through the garden, kitchen, Meighen family house and offices, and general store filled with original 19th century merchandise. The total walking distance is approximately ¾ mile over 1 1/2 hours, along level but unpaved surfaces. Following a picnic lunch, it is off to do some underground exploring at Mystery Cave, the longest cave in Minnesota. You will see stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone, fossils, and beautiful underground pools and learn about the history and geology of the cave. The tour involves ¾ mile of walking over 1 1/2 hours, on modern paved trails and metal bridges. Arrive at Gladstone by 7:30 am for your morning coffee and pastry. The bus leaves promptly at 7:45 am and returns at approximately 4:30 pm. Fee includes coach transportation, tour host, admission fees and guided tours, morning coffee and pastry, picnic lunch, afternoon snack, and beverage. Register by May 14. No refunds after this date. A processing fee will be deducted from the refund when canceling before this date. Bring a light jacket or sweater, as the temperature in the cave is a constant 48° F. Wear sturdy shoes with non-skid soles. Both tours are wheelchair accessible. A $2-3 gratuity per person is recommended and may be paid directly to the bus driver following the trip.
