MILLENIUM INTEGRATED PRIMARY SCHOOL
A new £ 15.3 million Millennium Integrated Primary School is under construction near Ballynahinch, where Felix O’ Hare & Co Ltd is delivering a purpose-built campus designed to support integrated education and meet the growing demand for school places.
Construction is progressing on a new home for Millennium Integrated Primary School, marking a significant investment in education infrastructure for the Saintfield and Carryduff area. Built on the school’ s existing site, the new campus will provide modern teaching facilities that reflect both the school’ s continued growth and the increasing demand for integrated education across Northern Ireland.
The project is being delivered for the Education Authority Northern Ireland, with McAdam Design acting as project manager and Felix O’ Hare & Co Ltd appointed as the main contractor. The £ 15.3 million development officially entered its construction phase in 2025 following a ceremonial sod cutting attended by Education Minister Paul Givan, representatives from the project team, staff and pupils.
Since opening in September 2000 with just 10 pupils, Millennium Integrated Primary School has expanded steadily to become a well-established integrated school serving families across the wider area. Approved increases in admissions and enrolment have reflected that growth, creating the need for a larger, purpose-built campus capable of supporting future generations of pupils.
The new school has been designed to provide 14 classrooms alongside a double nursery unit, replacing accommodation that no longer reflects the school’ s size or educational ambitions. The development has been planned to provide flexible teaching environments while creating improved facilities for staff, pupils and the wider school community.
Beyond the classroom accommodation, the scheme incorporates a range of specialist learning spaces intended to support contemporary teaching methods. Plans include a dedicated STEAM learning area, allowing science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics to be taught within connected, collaborative spaces. The
