Beyond the apartments themselves, the development incorporates approximately 10,000 square feet of shared resident amenities. These include a fully equipped gym, co-working facilities, a cinema room and two roof terraces, reflecting the growing emphasis placed on communal spaces within modern build-to-rent developments. Rather than focusing solely on individual apartments, the scheme has been designed to encourage a sense of community while supporting flexible lifestyles.
The project extends across approximately 325,000 square feet, making it one of the largest residential construction programmes currently underway in Newcastle. Before the main build commenced, extensive enabling works were undertaken, including ground investigations, archaeological surveys and substructure construction. These early stages prepared the brownfield site for the large-scale reinforced concrete frame that now defines the development.
Reaching the topping out stage represents an important transition within the construction programme. With the structural frame complete, activity is now progressing towards façade installation, mechanical and electrical services, internal fit-out and the delivery of the shared amenity spaces that will distinguish the completed scheme.
The Pottery Lane development also forms part of the continuing transformation of Newcastle’ s Forth Banks district. Once characterised by industrial and commercial activity, the area is evolving into a mixed-use neighbourhood incorporating residential development, offices, hotels and public spaces. Pottery Lane contributes a significant residential element to that wider regeneration, helping strengthen connections between the city centre and the riverside.
For RG Group, the project demonstrates the company’ s experience in delivering large-scale urban residential developments, while reinforcing its established partnership with Olympian Homes. As construction moves beyond its structural phase, attention is turning towards completing a development that will introduce hundreds of new homes to Newcastle’ s waterfront and play an important role in the continuing regeneration of the Forth Banks area.
We are pleased to be associated with the FORTH BANKS, POTTERY LANE development
