525 FLATS, FORTH BANKS- POTTERY LANE

Construction has reached its highest point at Pottery Lane in Newcastle, where RG Group is delivering one of the city’ s largest build-to-rent developments, creating 525 apartments as part of the wider regeneration of the Forth Banks waterfront.
A significant milestone has been reached on the Pottery Lane development, with the project team gathering in July 2025 to celebrate the topping out of the reinforced concrete frame. The event brought together representatives from Olympian Homes, RG Group, consultants and members of the wider construction team, recognising the progress made on one of Newcastle’ s most substantial residential schemes currently under construction.
Located within the Forth Banks regeneration area, the £ 121 million development is being delivered by RG Group on behalf of Olympian Homes. The project continues a longstanding relationship between the two organisations, representing RG Group’ s fourth major scheme for the developer following earlier projects in Manchester, Leeds and Nottingham.
The scheme occupies a prominent position close to the River Tyne, providing future residents with easy access to Newcastle city centre, Central Station and the city’ s transport network. Its elevated position also offers uninterrupted views across the Tyne Gorge towards Newcastle’ s iconic bridges, a feature that has helped shape the design and appeal of the development.
Originally submitted to Newcastle City Council in December 2019, the proposals were developed to deliver high-quality build-to-rent accommodation within one of the city’ s principal regeneration areas. The completed development will comprise 525 apartments across two residential buildings, creating a substantial addition to Newcastle’ s growing private rented sector.
Construction is being delivered in two phases. The first phase consists of an 11-storey building providing 292 apartments and is scheduled for completion during the first quarter of 2026. The second phase will comprise a six-storey building containing a further 227 apartments, with completion planned during 2027. Together, the two buildings will provide a mix of one and two-bedroom homes designed specifically for long-term rental.
