104 LISNASKEA HEALTH & CARE DEVELOPMENT

LISNASKEA HEALTH & CARE DEVELOPMENT

Construction is progressing on the new Lisnaskea Health and Care Centre, where Lowry Building & Civil Engineering is delivering a modern integrated healthcare facility designed to bring a wide range of primary and community services together under one roof.
A major investment in healthcare infrastructure is taking shape in County Fermanagh as work advances on the new Lisnaskea Health and Care Centre. Commissioned by the Western Health & Social Care Trust, the £ 32.4 million development will replace several ageing healthcare facilities with a purpose-built centre designed to improve access to services for communities across south east Fermanagh.
Designed by Dublin-based O’ Connell Mahon Architects, the new two-storey facility will occupy the site of the former Lisnaskea High School. The development has been planned to consolidate services currently delivered from the existing Lisnaskea Health Centre, Drumhaw Day Centre and a number of leased buildings, creating a single integrated healthcare hub for patients and staff.
Lowry Building & Civil Engineering signed the construction contract in late 2024 before commencing work on site in January 2025. Since then, the project has continued to progress through its main construction phases, with the building scheduled for completion in early 2027.
The new centre has been designed around the principle of integrated care, bringing together GP practices, Trust community services and older people’ s day care within a single building. Clinical services will include physiotherapy, podiatry, speech and language therapy, district nursing, health visiting, mental health services, dental services and midwifery, reducing the need for patients to travel between multiple locations for appointments.
Architecturally, the building has been organised around a central public street that links the principal entrance with the surrounding site, creating a clear route through the facility. An internal concourse separates public circulation from clinical and administrative areas, while landscaped courtyards introduce natural daylight into the building and provide views from treatment rooms and waiting areas. The layout has been developed to improve wayfinding while creating a calmer healthcare environment for patients, visitors and staff.
The development extends to approximately 4,070 square metres and includes associated parking, access roads and extensive landscaping. The building
