103 the phased redevelopment programme, with completion currently scheduled for summer 2027.
Throughout the construction period, Elgin Town Hall for the Community has temporarily relocated its activities to Elgin Community Centre, enabling performances, festivals and community events to continue while the redevelopment progresses. This arrangement ensures the venue’ s cultural programme remains active during the construction phase.
Alongside the physical redevelopment, Moray Council has continued to engage with local residents and stakeholders through the project’ s consultation programme, reflecting the long-term importance of the building to the town. The completed venue is intended to serve both community organisations and touring productions, providing flexible accommodation for performances, exhibitions, conferences and civic events.
For Taylor and Fraser, the project adds another significant heritage building to its conservation portfolio. Delivering the redevelopment requires balancing modern construction techniques with the careful restoration of a well-known civic landmark, ensuring the building is equipped for future generations while respecting its historic character.
When the doors reopen in 2027, Elgin Town Hall will offer a very different experience from the venue that closed for redevelopment. New performance spaces, expanded capacity and improved accessibility will allow the building to support a wider programme of cultural activity, reinforcing its position as one of Moray’ s principal public venues while anchoring the next phase of Elgin’ s Cultural Quarter.
