Currents May 2016 By: Dr. Joanie McConnell The Strawberry Love Story According to a Native American story, the first man and the first woman used to live in harmony. He hunted and fished so that they could savor juicy meats and fresh fish. She cleaned their simple home, gathered fruits and nuts, and then prepared their daily meals. Their simple yet blissful lifestyle may remind you of another famous first couple Adam and Eve in the legendary Garden of Eden. But as all couples know, “things happen.” One day, the first woman decided to prepare a special, romantic dinner for her partner. She went into the nearby woods to look for fresh, fragrant flowers because she wanted to add a touch of beauty to their table. By the time she had finished collecting the flowers, it was already dark. She hurried home, and began preparing their evening meal. When the first man returned perhaps a little earlier than usual he was very hungry and wanted to eat immediately. Unlike the other evenings, his dinner was not ready.
