"Lost"
Despair All we knew was to put one foot in front of the next All we felt was hunger and greed
Freedom but a distant memory We may have breathed
our hearts still pumped But we were far from living Our families Killed Our friends Killed Our hope Killed
Defeat Reflected in our eyes Not one of us Unbroken Not killed but shattered No concept of joy No concept of anger Eventually, no sadness or fear Emotion Eradicated Leaving Emptiness and Pain Leaving us Hollow as a log
Memory Perhaps the key role in this tragedy For it is all we clung onto it is all we have after And the world tried to forget Forgetting would be the most sinister of all crimes For then this horror may repeat itself A girl died Her family rescued her diary So the world may never forget May it hold this memory forever
Religion Where was god? Did he watch as we burned? Did he turn his back on his own sons? How cruel is that God?
Silence The world’s reaction to our genocide What we kept to stay alive As we died The world watched from the bleachers As if we were creatures fighting the gladiators of annihilation and anguish It was a losing battle
Survivors
We have flesh and bone fat, muscle, and soul have fled Minds numbed Sense Lost Emotion gone Lifeless
Death Instant
or over time millions died Incinerated Or they dug their own grave
Their Lives Lost
Our Hope Lost
Us Lost
