The Seaweed That Saved The World Lauren Barsotti, Letizia Colecchia, Mattia De Gregorio and Giammateo Sallustio By 2030 the air was polluted and the green areas were very limited. However 15 years later they found a seaweed that grew in the deepest oceans. In 2049, the famous scientist Doctor Nidle, started growing leds out of it and started using it as an energy producer. So insted of using an electrical system for neighborhood, every house had a basament with a “seaweed cell” that gave power to the entire building. Cities started growing up, and the towns near by became part of the major cities. Three quarters of the metropolities population who was living in poverty, moved in the few remaning green areas. By 2060 the “green areas”were a well known touristic attratiion with beautiful landscapes and animals that survived at the industrial revolution. The problem was that there weren’t places where tourist could stay, so they decided to sacrify one area with a luxury hotel. This was in the eastest part of Italy. The works were going to start on 5th June 2062, but the habitants of Otranto deciced to rebel as they didn’t want it to be a new big city with roads of high costs. That day, thousands of people protested and refused to remove themselves from the building area. They protested until they won. They stood there for weeks until victory so the last green area was save. 34
