The Relics Found Denise Salerno, Carmen Giacomodonato, Nicole Carovilla, Garofalo Anastasia. The cathedral is dedicated to San Basso and it was built in 1037. The current building was built from XII to XIII. The Swabian castle was subject to many changes because there was a war. Some bombs were launched to destroy Swabian castle, instead they caused the destruction of some houses. So the families were obliged to take refuge in the only building that wasn’t hit or destroyed – the cathedral The Turks proposed to a family who was momentarily living in the cathedral to reveal the whereabouts of the relics of San Timoteo and San Basso. In return, the family would be given enough money to buy a new home and make a better living. The family accepted the offer and after a few days the Turks planned the escape with the precious relics. Luckily the plan failed because they were discovered by other families who were living temporarily in cathedral. They had noticed the Turks going around the cathedral, even where there was nothing to see and they thought it strange so they informed the police. The police came and arrested the Turks, thanked the other families who had kept the relics, it is thanks to them that we can still see them today. 35
