REBUILDING THE
YOUNG MINDS
Launched in January 2015, the campaign’s main objective is to
empower school students of the flooded areas via an education
centric approach.
Following the recent flood that
has affected several states in Malaysia, NIVEA a leading skin care brand
has launched a CSR initiative that
focuses in relieving and rebuilding
the education needs of the flood victims.
Through this campaign, NIVEA
identified the schools in the affected
areas and provided them with the
necessary support needed. Through
this campaign, NIVEA has identified
four important areas that needed
urgent attention.
These include transportation in
the form of Blue Ride, volunteers
as the Blue Squad, Blue Aid custom-
ized to the school needs and Blue
Smile Packs consisting of stationeries and NIVEA grooming kits.
Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan
(SMK) Pulau Tawar was badly hit by
the flood and it was the worse flood
for many years, the water level was
up to the top of the first floor and
furniture and equipment were badly damaged.
The school was filled with mud
and the air was polluted post the
many rounds of cleaning up process.
During the first phase at SMK
Pulau Tawar, the Blue Squad volunteers participated in the cleaning up
22
of the school compounds and classrooms, fixed up notice boards and
painted blue poles at hallways.
A blue ride school van was
handed over to the school principal so that students can be ferried
to school. Bag packs and stationery
sets together with NIVEA grooming
kits were handed over to all the students.
These items and assistance have
helped uplift the spirits of students
as it solves the problem for students
without transport to school.
Students also benefited from the
newly replaced notice boards in
their classrooms and school halls.
