Somnath on behalf of MASA. Congratulating MASA on completing 10 years of its militant journey, he said that MASA was formed on 28 August 2016 as a common platform of militant workers’ organizations against the established economistic, legalistic and ritualistic tendencies and fragmentation in the workers’ movement. It was developed under the slogan of a continuous uncompromising struggle and an all-out battle against the neoliberal attacks of capitalism, privatization, anti-worker policies, exploitation and repression. He said that MASA has intervened not only in the struggle over the four Labour Codes— the documents of workers’ slavery— and economic demands, but also on necessary political issues. In addition to campaigns against the fascist offensive, imperialist wars, the ongoing genocide in Palestine, and platforms such as the G20, solidarity was established with the farmers’ movement and other people’ s movements. At the same time, this year, grassroots intervention was also made in the nationwide upsurge of workers in industrial establishments that began in Panipat, Barauni and Surat, as well as in the spontaneous industrial strike in Delhi-NCR.
On behalf from various organisations leaders explained this struggle and working class problems.
Com. Bindia( President, Hill Plantation Employees Union, Longview Unit, Darjeeling) Com. Jaiprakash( worker activist, IMK
Haridwar), Com. Akash( factory worker in Manesar), Com. Kusum( factory worker from Faridabad), Com. Aniruddha( Bhagat Singh Student & Youth Front), Com. Mohd. Irfan( workers’ face at the Jantar Mantar protest) presented revolutionary poems conveying the message of workers’ unity. Com. Pravendra( Mazdoor Sangharsh Sangathan), Com. Lakshdeep( Grameen Mazdoor Union, Bihar) highlighted the weak position of workers’ organizations. Com. P. Krishnaprasad( Secretariat Member, Samyukt Kisan Morcha) congratulated MASA. Com. Mantu( IFTU Sarwahara) said that the workers’ movement that emerged this year was not merely an ordinary movement for immediate demands. Com. P. K. Shahi( AIFTU-New) said that the tendency towards class unity among workers has weakened, which can be achieved only through class consciousness. Special attention should be given to this. Com. Jaiprakash( Bihar Nirman Asangathit Shramik Union) said that workers are in a condition of capitalist slavery, in which they can somehow survive only by creating wealth for capitalists. If workers do not strengthen their class politics, they will continue to fall prey to the politics of the capitalist class. Com. Shyamveer( Inqlabi Mazdoor Kendra) explained with basic rights being crushed, which situation of a direct confrontation between the working class and the capitalist class has emerged, for which a militant organisation of the working class is necessary.
