Investigate the Satya Niketan Collapse, Ensure Accountability!

On 6 September 2026, at around 1:30 PM, a multi-storey boys’ PG / hostel building at Satya Niketan in Delhi collapsed, killing seven people and injuring several others. The building was being used as student accommodation, and repair work was reportedly underway when it collapsed. Several people were rescued from the debris. The tragedy has exposed the unsafe conditions in which many students are forced to live.
Students should not have to risk their lives simply to find affordable accommodation. The shortage of adequate and affordable hostels, particularly for outstation students at Delhi University, forces many students to depend on private PGs and other accommodation where safety standards are often neglected. The government, Municipal Corporation of Delhi( MCD) and university authorities must take responsibility for ensuring safe accommodation for students. Strict enforcement of building and fire-safety standards and regular inspections of student accommodations are essential.
AISYO demands a thorough investigation into the collapse, strict action against those responsible, and proper compensation to the families of those who lost their lives. The government must conduct safety inspections of student hostels and PGs, take immediate action against unsafe buildings, and ensure free, adequate, safe and affordable hostel facilities for students.

Uttar Pradesh. Com. Amitav( CSTU) said that the formation of MASA was an attempt to address the question of how to bring together the isolated struggles emerging in various factories and sectors, separate from the limited platform of the central trade unions. Workers are being divided into various categories and their unity is being broken. Even after 80 years of independence, we remain stuck on the question of minimum wages instead of living wages.
The cultural teams of MSS, CSTU, PSYA-Rifaq and IMK presented spirited revolutionary songs.— A resolution was passed against the recent Supreme Court judgment redefining the term‘ industry’, under which many establishments will be excluded from the concept of industry and, consequently, many workers will be excluded from the ambit of labour laws, demanding withdrawal of the judgment.
— A second resolution was also passed demanding the release of workers and activists arrested in Noida during the workers’ movement that emerged in Delhi-NCR this year and the withdrawal of all cases against them.
— A third resolution was passed expressing full solidarity and support for the struggle being conducted by municipal sanitation workers and fire-fighting employees of Haryana for their legitimate demands and demanding fulfilment of their demands. Finally, the gathering concluded with Com. Narendra’ s closing address, followed by the song‘ We will confront every force on the strength of workers’ unity’ and spirited slogans.
MASA is committed to contributing to building a sustained, militant and decisive struggle of the Indian working class. For us, this is a moment of reflection— to look back at our achievements, build on them, explore the potential, and confront the limitations and challenges of ours and of the contemporary working-class movement in India.
