Old Gin Creek , located on Highway 331 in downtown Brantley , Alabama , has worked hard to make a name for itself . Owner , Hunter Royal , shocked everyone when he left his career to pursue his dream of owning his own business . “ I worked for Alabama Farmers ( Insurance ) for years , and I wanted to open my own business . I was tired of running a business for other people .” One Christmas morning , Amanda , Hunter ’ s wife , told him to take the leap of faith and just do it . Hunter and Amanda had a four-monthold baby girl at home to provide for and the decision to start over from scratch or stay in an established career was fraught with uncertainty . Hunter dove off the deep end and quit his well-paying job with benefits . “ I went on faith that this is what we were supposed to do . The good Lord has blessed us ever since ,” Hunter said . Hunter kept his eye out for a place to make his own , each time coming back to the vacant building that he knew could be something special . In 2015 , Hunter and Amanda opened Gin Creek .
