“ Amanda came up with the name . The building is located between the old gin and the river . Old Gin River doesn ’ t sound as good as Old Gin Creek ,” Hunter said with a smile . “ I just knew it would be a good spot with the beach traffic and the hunting . It flows where there isn ’ t much of downtime because we go from beach season to hunting season .” “ When we opened this place , people thought I was crazy , selling some of the products we sold . The high-end products like Costa , but there is a need for that around here . People want to buy good products .” They thought I was crazy when I left my job . You have to have faith in what you do ; if God puts something on your heart and says that ’ s what you are supposed to do , you need to follow it .” Since opening , Gin Creek has doubled in size and added a deli
counter that serves breakfast and lunch . Hunters and locals alike can be seen catching up on the day ’ s events while grabbing a bite to eat from the deli counter . Being an avid hunter himself , Hunter stocks all the essentials needed throughout the different hunting seasons . Hunters Day Out is a huge sale held in September of each year . “ Everything that has to do with hunting goes on sale : seed , feed , fertilizer , attractants , ammo , ground blinds , tree stands ... We always have a big cookout for all the hunters , sometimes with vendors ,” Hunter said . Old Gin Creek marks the sale with an archery shoot , depending on the year and conditions . Fishing gear , tackle and live bait are stocked year-round . Hunter plans to expand the kitchen area in the future .
