Baby Driver
Baby Driver. Ask any of my friends and they’ll tell you I loved this movie, and evidently, I wasn’t alone. This movie had critics and the public raving, being called the best action movie of the summer, among other things. The movie follows a young man named Baby (Ansel Elgort), chronicling the events of his last couple of jobs as a getaway driver. At this point, the plot may sound a little typical, but that’s where the charm of the characters, and writing, come in. Our titular hero, Baby, has constant tinnitus which causes him to have earbuds in nearly one-hundred percent of the time. He’s also an excellent driver. A culmination of his driving skills alongside his generally compliant attitude result in a high pay for what he does as well. There’s just one problem. He hates being a criminal. He’s only doing this because he owes someone. The cherry on top, (and catalyst for the events of the movie) is the girl he met recently, Deborah (Lily James). They want to run away together, and the plot evolves from there. To briefly mention the cinematography/choreography, it was excellent. The movie managed to pull off casually being a musical, as many of the scenes were synced up perfectly to whatever tunes happened to be playing on Baby’s headphones at the time. In short, no movie has made me want chronic in-ear ringing more than Baby Driver.
Mother!
How many times have you heard it in your life? Mother. You won't hear it the same way you would have before after you watch this film. You may not even think the same way when you hear mother after watching this film. But be warned, this film is very controversial. Many have given it bad reviews, and many also liked it. So what you may hear from one person you will not likely hear from another.
Mother! is about a famous writer (Javier Bardem) and his wife (Mother, Jennifer Lawrence), who live in seclusion as they rebuild an old home that had been worn down over the years. The famous writer has retired and the couple try to live a peaceful life, but things aren't always that simple (because Mother! is not like every other horror movie ever, this is “different”).” It's a new horror movie.”
