Knitting know how Simple increase and decrease Simple increase: The easiest way to increase is to work into the front and back of the same stitch. Work the first stitch as you would normally but do not take the stitch off the needle. Now knit or purl into the back of the stitch. You now have two new stitches on right hand needle. Now slide off stitch from left needle. Simple decrease: The simplest way to decrease is by knitting or purling two stitches together. On a knit row, slide the right needle up through two stitches and knit them together as if it was one stitch. This is called knit two together (k2tog) Use the same method when purling only purl two together (p2tog)
