Street soccer
kicks off with
tournament
T
he Street Soccer League
started off with the first
Winter SSL Cup, but not
without its first teething
problems. Initially the matches
were to be played at Mid Harbours,
but this came to a quick stop when
the organisers were informed that
a paid for league or tournament
could not take place at the estate
without asking for permission and
payment of arranged fees.
This led to a change of location
with the GSLA providing allocations at the small concrete pitches,
where allocation fees were enforced.
A total of seven teams registered
for the warm up tournament.
Few rules, no need for proper kits,
and normal football rules applied,
all of which resembled very much
the GFA Futsal leagues.
The mini tournament took off on
Saturday with seven teams competing across two of the small
pitches.
The matches saw all levels of football on the pitches. The skilled, the
not so skilled, the healthy and fit,
the I am here for a day's kick about
and even the pros playing to hone
their skills on a different arena.
