The street soccer phenomenon
has attracted some interest
among those who wish to play but
cannot register their interest as
they just want to be involved, not
committed to the training and
other commitments teams under
the GFA now experience.
As the first Street Soccer League
tournament took place at the Bayside Sports complex, just across
the yard, in the old Victoria Stadium sports hall teams battled it
out in the third and fourth division
of the futsal league, many of the
players home grown, young and
old, and all playing in their spare
time.
Just next door the first division of
the futsal league also took place.
Seeing all three together Street
Soccer resembled the poor man's
equivalent, and not necessarily
having the effect which people
had envisioned from the marketed
product, but very much providing
an opportunity to players from all
levels, and skills who miss out on
the regulation registration of the
organised GFA seasons.
