Process Art
Process Art is....
v Process art is the process of making or physically handling materials often
through repeated actions of accumulation.
v Process art is present in all art forms. For example, performance art can
have the process of performing to show the process of making art.
v Time also takes a role in process art; they intertwine since process art
requires time or evidence of creating an art piece. (We will talk about time
later in the book).
An example of an artist who uses process art is Candy Coated. Candy Coated (Candy
Depew) is a Philadelphia artist who exhibits her artwork through many forms of art
that also includes art installations. Installations are multiple elements set up in a
physical space to create one single artwork. Installations require time and a process
to create and set up; she and other University of Washington art students made pieces
of art to add into her installation that was held in the University of Washington Art
Building. Everyone helped set up the room to create the installation. Below are some
pictures I photographed of her finished installation as well as a press release that was
released for the opening of the installation piece on the right.
