07/17/17 San Antonio, TX 1700 blk W. Mariposa—crews were
dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 1700blk of W. Maripo-
sa on the cities N.W. side. As units were checking in route, the
SAFD Central Fire Alarm Office upgraded the assignment to a
"Working Fire" followed quickly by an additional upgrade to a “4 &
2” response (4 Engine Co. and 2 Truck Co.) due to the number of
calls Central Fire Alarm was receiving. Engine Co. 19 arrived to
find a fully involved detached garage, with major exposure issues
on the Alpha and Delta Sides, and advised that they would be going
defensive, and protecting the Delta Exposure. Engine 10 took the
Alpha side and commenced fire attack and exposure protection on
the Alpha/Bravo corner exposure while 11’s Truck completed the
primary search on the primary house and 6's on the second house.
At one point, there were concerns for some propane tanks as well as
the car in the garage when he gas tank failed and lit off. Crews made
a quick and aggressive knock on the fire to keep it in check and
limited the damage to the garage, and outside of both homes. No
one was injured and crews remained on scene moping up for well
over an hour and a half. Companies on the ticket were EN19, EN10,
EN28, EN06, TK06, PL11, MAC07, M19, MOF01, MOF(?), ISO,
and BC01.
