07 / 18 / 17 2nd alarm Providence, RI 6 Sumpter St— On the afternoon July 18, 2017, the Providence FD sent out a still box for a house fire at 9 Sumter Street. On arrival, Engine 10 found heavy fire showing from the rear of an occupied 3-story house. Lines were quickly stretched and operated. The main body of fire was quickly knocked down but not before it had extended upwards and burned out the rear stairs. One firefighter was burned while battling the fire and was transported to a nearby hospital. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
