Spotlight on New Communities

The sharing of knowledge is very important in teaching, and that’s not solely between teachers and students, but also between teachers and their fellow members of staff. Community is a word you probably hear us using a lot at Nord Anglia; we strive to ensure that our staff can feel part of a community in which they can approach their peers 24/7 on our platform to share stories and teaching strategies, or simply to chat with like-minded people.

Nord Anglia have recently introduced 3 new communities: Nursing, P.E. and Extended Essay. We hope to involve as many members of staff as possible in our communities, and in doing so connecting a wider social network of teachers from every continent. Shared learning is part of the development of our learning culture, and we want to ensure that you have access to one of the best sources of information available: your peers. With mass participation, the impact on our students should be huge. They will be learning from the most experienced, innovative and creative teachers who have collectively shared their knowledge and experiences for the benefit of others. Outside of our family other schools don’t have this advantage, and that is why we want to make the most from it! We also encourage all new members of staff to come on over to our New Joiners Community, where you can introduce yourself to your future colleagues (even feel free to post a picture of yourself to give others a good idea of who you are!). This is a great way of getting to know your co-workers all over the world and sharing experiences for others to read about.

For a more detailed look into the benefits of shared learning communities, please check out the video below.

We are very excited for this opportunity and please feel free to share any resources or recommendations as we get our section of NAU started! Please post any questions/comments or introductions in the Discussions tab and see the Resources tab for any documents. Please share any ideas or documents you find especially helpful in your clinics as well!

"As school nurses we are in a unique position in each of our schools, often used to being the only medical personnel in our buildings, each practicing independently utilizing our past experiences, knowledge, best and evidence-based practices. Our vision for this community is to create a forum that’s supportive, and most importantly, where we can collaborate and share our expertise and practices with others.

I know there are times during my day where I wished could go to a colleague and ask what would you do and/or have you encountered this before?

Or goal is to inspire other nurses, healthcare providers and colleagues to support each other in utilizing best practices and keeping up to date in the ever changing healthcare community to achieve the highest level of health, safety and overall wellbeing for the school community we care for."
