4th Annual Global Engagement Exposition

On April 10th, NC State’s Office of International Affairs hosted the 4th Annual Global Engagement Exposition at the
University Club. Approximately 80 students, faculty, staff and visiting international scholars attended this exposition. During
the event, outstanding candidates received the Outstanding Global Engagement Award and the Jackson Rigney International
Service Award. Our CI participated in this event and presented a poster that showcased CI’s outreach activities, Chinese language
and culture courses for both NC State and the community, and study abroad programs. The poster highlighted the growth of
participation in CI’s activities. Lots of students, faculty, staff and visiting international scholars were attracted by CI’s work and
expressed their support and willingness to participate CI’s future activities.

历年来参与孔院活动及课程的人数的持续增加，
展示了孔院在北卡地区的影
响不断扩大。孔院的海报吸引了不少参加活动的学生
、教授、专家前来交流
，他们对孔院的课程和活动表示出浓厚的兴趣和支持，纷纷表
示以后会来参加孔院举办的相关活动。

Haywood County Partnership
Dr. Jianning Ding, the Chinese director of CI at NC State,
was invited by Dr. Anna Garrett, the Superintendent of the
Haywood public school system to visit Haywood County.
The goal of the visit was to discuss potential partnerships in
introducing Chinese language and culture to students and the
local community of this western mountainous area of North
Carolina. Dr. Ding shared with the education leaders about
Confucius Institute and various programs and opportunities
our CI can provide. Haywood County’s Vice Superintendent
