China Culture at Moore Square
Magnet Middle School

On April 10th, our CI participated in Moore Square Magnet School’s Global Fair and conducted calligraphy and papercutting demonstrations. Moore Square Magnet School is a well-known Academic and Art magnet school in North Carolina.
With music “Chinese Blossoms on the Moonlit River” playing in the background, five CI staffs, together with our mascot Panda
Bao-Bao, helped students and their families practice Chinese calligraphy and paper-cutting. Upon arrival, Bao-Bao became the
celebrity of the night, as kids and parents waited in line to take photos with him. At CI’s calligraphy table, our staffs prepared
different Chinese characters “春(spring)”, “花(flower)”“马(horse)” in four calligraphy styles; while students traced these Chinese
characters, our staffs guided students in understanding the charm and beauty of Chinese characters and calligraphy. At the
paper-cutting table, Ms. Xiaowen Yang taught students and parents how to make the 3-D character of “春” and showed them
how to cut pandas with colored papers.

在剪纸展台，孔院杨晓雯老师不仅带领学生和家长一起剪
“春” 还教他们剪出了

一只只穿着五颜六色服装的憨态可掬的大熊猫，
和大家一起来
“春游” 迎接春天的到来。
