Girl Scout China Class
The Girl Scout leader for Troop 1118 in Wake Forest
invited our CI to introduce Chinese culture to their girls.
On February 9th, twenty eager 6, 7 year-old girl scouts
waited for CI staffs to arrive. Upon arrival, CI staffs were
greeted by the question, “Are you driving all the way
from China?” The cute question brought much laughter.
CI staffs introduced Chinese New Year history and
tradition. When talking about Chinese Zodiac, the girls
were very interested in figuring out their own Chinese
Zodiac and realized everyone was born in the year of
dog or pig. Next, CI staffs showed how it’s like to be a kid
in China; things suggested including school uniform,
daily exercises, eye exercises, Chinese cartoons - Please
Goat and Big Big Wolf, and the National Children’s Day.
The girl scouts showed great interests in this topic and
shared their student life with us. The most popular
part was learning about the panda. When these girls
watched a video about pandas, they kept saying that
“The panda is so cute!” During the last part of the event,
our staffs demonstrated how to make Chinese animals
with colored papers. Girl scouts made lively South
Chinese tiger, panda, golden monkey and Chinese
alligator. After the event, all the girls took their Chinese
paper animals home.
