Venues

A tale of two venues leading with technology

Signature Boston Thomas M. Menino Convention & Exhibition Center( MCEC) is arguably the most technologically advanced convention centre in the world and, with advanced technology, comes advanced perks.
The MCEC ' s digital signage network of 65 " and 98 " displays provides increased branding and sponsorship opportunities throughout the facility. A 160ft-wide video wall provides 2,000sq. ft. of video real estate, feature branding and sponsorships on the most prominent placement within the MCEC. For larger reach outside the convention centre walls, the 80ft. marquee at the front of the building reaches a daily audience of over 225,000 pedestrians and motorists. And the Unconventional Boston Podcast Studio is available for rent for audio and visual recording options onsite at the MCEC, making it posssible to broadcast your message or resell the placements to sponsors as a revenue stream for your event.
The MCEC also provides free Wi-Fi and the upgraded network will deliver improved internet speeds, superior simultaneous connectivity, and enterprise-grade security. These improvements establish a worldclass, event-ready foundation that meets both current and emerging technology demands for conventions and events. Javits Center The Javits Center in New York is a leading event venue and focused on creating solutions for the event organiser of today.
With venues facing growing expectations for seamless connectivity, operational efficiency and infrastructure to support increasingly digital experiences, Javits Center is addressing this challenge as the first convention centre to deploy Wi-Fi 7 – tripling its capacity and creating a more secure network for attendees.
That infrastructure, management says, means attendees no longer must choose between staying connected to work and participating in a conference. People can spend less time worrying about connectivity and more time making the human connection that brought them on-site.
AI, meanwhile, is supporting 24 / 7 exhibitor service, staffing and resource analysis, real-time monitoring of Wi-Fi and critical systems, and HR and legal workflows. Developing these technology solutions in-house has generated an estimated $ 250,000 in savings.
As demand grows for immersive event experiences, Javits Center’ s exterior branding programme allows events to extend their presence beyond the show floor. That opportunity also presents a sustainability challenge: what happens to these materials once an event ends? For Fanatics Fest, 1,000sq. ft. of exterior window graphics were diverted from the waste stream for recycling and repurposed into composite decking. The initiative demonstrates how Javits Center is considering the full lifecycle of event materials – helping brands create high-impact experiences while finding sustainable ways to give those materials a second life. n
