ACCELERATE THROUGH IMPACT Many faults in the swing come from players trying to swing too hard from the top of the downswing, which can throw the downswing off a neutral path and waste energy and power before you reach the ball. We’ve added three large colour pads to show how and where the clubhead speed should build into impact. It’s an incredibly powerful visual cue that really works to increase clubhead speed. GRADUAL ACCELERATION The blue, green and red pads, in that order, encourage smooth acceleration through impact. Positioning the red after the ball signifies that you should try and have the clubhead moving fastest just after impact. In reality, it will reach its optimum speed as you make contact with the ball. TAKEAWAY AND WRIST HINGE Add a red disc to help move the clubhead away on the correct path and hinge the wrists at the correct time to set the club on a neutral plane. The clubhead should move over the red disc, with the clubface parallel to the blue line. Passing over the red disc is also your cue to start your wrist hinge. The red disc can be moved closer to the ball to prompt an earlier hinge, and further from the ball for a later hinge. 74 Golf World November 2017
