CLS: I have observed that you guys degree holders in other fields of study aside music. What is about music that is pulling you into it? BST: Music lives in us. We are doing what we love. CLS: What’s the future for Basstrvpz? BST: The future is already here and laid out. Release contents and perform of the biggest stages. We are focusing on content develop- ment now. In the past we were focused on our brand image now we are focusing on is produc- ing great content. Some guys hit us up on Inst- gram one time to congratulate us; and they are coming from Nigeria – that to us is awesome. CLS: One of things I have observed in our part of the world is that people don’t like to pay for services rendered especially in the arts indus- try. How is your art paying for you? BST: It’s not easy to come out with masterpiec- es. Its takes sleepless nights at the studio just to produce that one material so when you finally bring it out and people don’t wish to pay for it; it heartbreaking. This is our hustle and we deserve to be paid for it. It is different if the fans don’t want it but if they do, then they should pay for it. That’s how we can continue to bring them the best of us always and we are not speaking for ourselves only. CLS: Are you not taking advantage of modern distribution platforms? BST: We are on the various digital distribution platforms particularly Soundcloud. CLS: In my opinion, if every artiste in Ghana decides to sell his music; people will be forced to pay for them. BST: Yeah, they will. We are at the point where we deem it important to sell our content and fans purchasing them. The only way we can quantify the love our fans have for us is when they buy what we sell to them. CLS: What are some of your challenges? BST: Driving attention to what we do is one of the major challenges we face. We are doing a genre that isn’t much known here. Outside we may not face this challenge but over here adap- 29| Colossium . March 2019 tion is slow and that is a challenge. CLS: What’s the social impact of Basstrvpz? Are you giving back to your fans and society in general? BST: Giving back to society is top on our chart. We have been sharing knowledge with our producers who are not even doing EDM. We sometimes produce songs for some music ar- tistes for free. We also use social media to touch lives out there with our craft and music. Back to the Content page
