UK entertainment market on the up
The UK ’ s entertainment and media market could be worth £ 65.5bn by 2017 , with digital revenue driving growth over more than a fifth , a new study suggests . The Global Entertainment and Media Outlook 2013-17 report , conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers , predicts the value of the UK entertainment market to be 21.3 per cent higher over a fiveyear period .

P layer tracking and loyalty system specialist Embed Playsafe is actively investing in order to bring in more business . MD David Stenning told Coinslot : “ We ’ re still building and enlarging our development team . Exciting ideas are coming through in both our UK office in Bath and in Perth , Australia . The UK arm of Embed has been given a boost by refurbishing our premises there . Stephen Woolley is doing a great job in covering UK-based operations and stimulating interest from other countries in Europe .”
Stenning has found that domestically loyalty and player tracking is beginning to gain momentum as well as data capture . There ’ s been a lot of interest shown in what Embed has done with its cashless installation at Adventure Island in Southend - the early signs are showing good results .
Stenning added : “ Redemption Pro , which is distributed through Brent , has been doing a lot in both the UK and Ireland largely through the hard work of Darrell Simmonds and Steve Short . We ’ ve had a very positive response at both the South West Show , the Northern Showcase and the Skegness show .”
The feedback Stenning is getting from operators , however , is that they ’ re still having a tough time . He explained : “ Although there ’ s a lot of good equipment out there , they ’ re still looking for something more to offer their customers . This is where we can help with customer loyalty

systems , as opposed to traditional machine monitoring , to enhance their businesses .”
Player tracking is going very well for Embed , especially with redemption still growing . As a result , the firm is paying a lot of attention to that side of the business .
Stenning concluded : “ The industry is all about relationships and shows are about the quality of visitors rather than the quantity . We all have to ask ourselves the question : ‘ Should we work with someone else ?’ We ’ ve been looking , for example , at interfacing cashless systems with point of sale material . There are several joint opportunities to be had - it ’ s a case of identifying the right ones .”
