Robotics Social Responsibility Duration Full Year Duration Full Year Meeting Times Monday, After School Thursday, After School Eligibility Grade 8–12 The Robotics Club members spend much of the school year planning, creating, and testing robots that will compete in local Vex Robotics tournaments. No previous technical experience is necessary. All members can learn a wide variety of skills including design and construction, troubleshooting, and programming. Robotics Club provides wonderful opportunities for students interested in STEM to build interpersonal skills such as communication, collaboration, and leadership. We attend 2-3 one-day tournaments in the lower mainland per school year. Sew What’s Cooking Duration Meeting Times Full Year Thursday, After School Eligibility Grade 8–12 Students in this club organize weekly activities for drop-in participants. Examples of the activities are: chocolate chip cookie making, sewing stuffed animals, decorating gingerbread houses. Meeting Times Tuesday, Lunch Eligibility Grade 8–12 The Social Responsibility club involves students’ learning about current local and global issues (environmental, social, political) and then discovering ways that they can be part of the solution. This club also organizes several awareness building events within the school year such as Earth Week, International Women’s Week, CIBC Run for the Cure, and Orange Shirt Day - Every Child Matters. Stage Band Duration Meeting Times Eligibility Full Year Monday, 7:30 am Tuesday, Lunch Wednesday, Lunch Grade 8–12 by audition Stage band is a performing small ensemble that focuses on informal musical learning and student collaboration. Students must have musical skills on a instrument or vocal ability. The group performs regularly throughout the year at various school functions and events.
