Council Highlights
October 11
Outstanding Tax Revenues
Council reviewed the amount of taxes remaining outstanding for 2016, which reflects
average annual outstanding amounts at the
same time of year.
Tax Penalty Waiver Request
Council denied a request for a tax penalty
waiver, upholding the penalty provisions of
the tax rate bylaw.
ROAR Society Delegation
Council heard from members of ROAR
Society regarding its budgets, existing service
levels and a request for funding. Council
motioned to consider ROAR’s request for
$10,000.00 during its budget deliberations.
Family Community Support Services
(FCSS) Delegation
Council heard from the FCSS manager
regarding provincial funding, as well as local
programming and grants issued to community groups.
Parkland Regional Library – Delegation
Council reviewed and denied the approval
of Parkland Regional Library’s proposed
2017 budget, recommending amendments to
reflect no increase over previous year.
RCMP – Delegation
Council heard from the Sundre and Rimbey
RCMP detachments regarding rural policing
statistics, call volumes, increased property
crimes and rural crime watch.
Highway Patrol Interim Report
Council reviewed the County’s Community
Peace Officer (CPO) report regarding statistics; joint force operations; educational programming such as the Positive Ride Program;
and enforcement focused on the protection
of infrastructure and public safety.
Procedural Bylaw
Council adopted a revised Procedural Bylaw
954/12 to amend the date for release of Council agenda packages to Thursday afternoon,
should the Monday be a statutory holiday.

Organizational Meeting
Councillors elected Reeve – Pat Alexander
and Deputy Reeve – Curt Maki, along with numerous other board and committee appointments for Councillors and members-at-large.
Rocky Mountain House RCMP
Delegation
Council heard from the Rocky Mountain
House RCMP detachment regarding crime
statistics, call volumes, member staffing and
patrols, as well as positive partnerships with
the County’s CPOs and rural crime watch.
Policy Review – Community Hall Capital
Grant Funding
Council approved amendments to the
Capital Grant Funding for Community Halls
Policy, which includes more detailed criteria
for applicants and highlights the County being a funder of last resort.
Policy Review – Donations, Solicitations
Council reviewed and approved amendments to the Donations and Solicitations
Policy, which includes more detailed criteria
for applicants.
Carbon Taxes
Council approved a letter requesting
AAMDC board strike a committee to study
and report on the economic impacts of carbon
taxes on rural Alberta and rural municipalities.
