ALUMINIUM
TWO BECOME ONE
Aluminium systems company, Jack
Aluminium and IDF Aluminium Ltd have
come together to join two school buildings
using curtain walling at Phillip Morant
School in Colchester, Essex.
Essex-based IDF Aluminium LTD chose
Jack Aluminium as its supplier for the project
which has created an 8 metre by 40 metre
vestibule and new main entrance between
two existing buildings using Jack Aluminium
curtain walling and doors.
Rob James, Head teacher at Phillip Morant
School in Colchester, Essex says: “The new
vestibule area has really modernised the look
of the building and given us an impressive new
of Jack Aluminium. We have used many
different systems in the past but we find Jack
is way ahead in terms of product quality and
customer service. They keep us happy and that
keeps our customers happy.”
Jeff Pearson, sales director of Jack
Aluminium concludes: “Jack Aluminium’s
Curtain Wall Suite utilises a combination of
aluminium and PVCu to enhance the thermal
performance of the unit, which makes it ideal

New aluminium multi-pane door
New Wave Doors has added an aluminium
door system to extend its innovative ‘Slide &
Swing’ multi-pane door range.
The new aluminium door has all the
advantages of its original PVC-U ‘Slide &
Swing’ including multi-pane doors that split
any way you like. This means that the ‘Slide &
Swing’ doesn’t encroach on internal living space
or patio space when opening or closing. With
no weight bearing hinges and 100% of the
doors’ weight taken by the aluminium bottom
track, installing and maintaining the system is
easy. When closed, the doors interlock together
creating a solid and secure wall that is more
secure than a traditional Bi-fold. With virtually
no visible hardware to spoil the lines they look
beautiful too.
Kevin Harvey, Managing Director of New
Wave comments: “We’ve been inundated with
requests for an aluminium ‘Slide & Swing’
door, with confirmed pre-orders well before the
aluminium version was available. An increasing
number of fabricators and installers now sell
both PVC-U and aluminium doors. This is
very easy with New Wave because the same
hardware is used for both materials. Fabrication
and installation is simple and quick too.”
