MARKETING & UPSELLING Every Door Direct Marketing leaves no stone unturned and turns up profits Every Door Direct Mail Tips and Tricks for Cleaners by John Braun EDDM, aka Every Door Direct mail, is hands down the cheapest way to target the ideal neighborhood you want to reach. Here are a few tips and tricks we’ve learned about getting the most response out of an EDDM campaign. EDDM is a new program through the United States Postal Service that allows businesses to canvas entire mail routes for as little as 15 cents per household. Plus, the size of the EDDM piece is required to be at least 6.125 inches high and less than 16 inches long. This makes for a pretty big mailer. Although EDDM pieces don’t have to strictly be a postcard mailer, most cleaners find postcards to be the easiest and most cost effective to mail. 24 That’s why EDDM is so affordable. What about the less desirable neighborhoods or apartments? Most of the time it’s not an issue. But there could be a rare occasion where apartments or less desirable neighborhoods are on the same mail route as a high-end neighborhood. We’ve not found it to be much of a problem though. With EDDM, you don’t have to purchase a mailing list. You pick the mail route you want to target. Typically, a mail route will consist of anywhere between 100 and 1000 homes. And yes, you do have to mail to the entire route. You can’t pick and choose. 4. Here’s how you get the EDDM mailer done: 1.
