Things that stood out to me
There were several works which amazed me/ surprised me/ entertained me most.
Airborne snotty vases: He picked people who had a cold, made them sneeze,
and then captured the airborne snotty with a computer and printed them with
a 3d printer. Really funny, but the vases created have a really nice/ weird
shape.
Monster chairs: Wanders created this chair on a
dream/vision/thought he had about sitting at a table. It appealed to
me because he makes of something so basic as a chair something that
is very emotional and appealing.
Good news walls:
There was a wall made out of cut-out
newspaper articles that only brought good
news. The following quote of wanders accompanied it:
My opinion
I was not really prejudiced in any way, since I had no clue who he even was. I was definitely open
minded. I quite liked the way he uses design. He thinks out of the box, but still appeals with simple
and great designs. The snotty vases are really funny and inspire you to do something weird and crazy
yourself too. His view on many of the things we consider daily is very different. I really enjoyed the
way he does this. He just has a view so centered around the customer and durability. I did not enjoy
every object. It was not always appealing to me, but I did enjoy the way he thinks out of the box. At
the end of the exhibition there was a project where everyone could connect lines and dots for one
drawing, and then the drawings were put behind each other in a movie. I really like this kind of
project, as it makes me involved in something I feel is bigger and a lot better than simply the illusive
word of ‘art’. His work intrigues me.
