Review of “Pinned up”
Marcel Wanders, who you probably know of the work right
of this text, has work that is exhibited at the Stedelijk
Museum. He is a designer who did many different projects
on many different levels and companies.
Marcel’s work is, in my opinion, very intriguing. He has a
very unique style that many people like. His work is always
durable and out-of-the-box.
The exhibition exists out of 2 parts. A white part, with a lot
of intriguing objects and funny quotes, and a dark part,
where more personal work is shown.
Works such as the knotted chair, the rainbow necklace
(which includes a Viagra pill, and a kidney stone) and many
more can be found in the white section.
In the dark section there are a lot of works with delftware.
Also more personal things are displayed. One work is
“Mondrian Disillusion”. It shows the current state of a hotel
interior designed by Wanders, which is sadly very bad.
Wanders has a very unique style, which is very interesting to
discover. It is not as much an exhibition but it feels more like
a library, a place where you be curious.
It is definitely worth dropping by on this exhibition if you are
close. The humor and intriguing design and ideas make it
very fun and very worthwhile. Wanders shows many beautiful designs and it is quite an experience.
