China Fire Bulletin visits with the team
of comments like this during the
interview. After a deep contact with
this team, what shocks me the most
is not just the advanced equipment,
but the sprit and the motivation
behind this team.
Appearance of Rescue Organization
On the July 19th, 2014, an excellent
ground and air force participated a
search and rescue drill in Yiwu city
hosted by Yiwu independent rescue
team. A call rings in the command
office at 1:30 p.m., the team leader
Mr. Fang picked up the phone and
heard a distress voice asking for
help "we got lost near the Nanshan
reservoir, some of us are injured,
please come and help!”
Mr. Fang commanded an emergency
order via radio-communication
immediately. Less than 10 minutes,

more than 40 team members arrived
in SUVs and motorcycles, direct from
work. Quickly, those entrepreneurs
were fully equipped as professional
rescuers. They drove into the rescue
site with a communication truck,
ambulance and more than ten off
road vehicles with rescue ropes, life
detecting tools and other devices. At
the same time, two helicopters were
also on the way to the rescue site.
30minutes later, two pilots found
victims injured and trapped on
40-meters high cliff. The helicopter
reported the location of the victims
to the ground force and the rescue
team climbed from the back of
mountain and rescued two wounded
using life ropes. Very quickly, the
wounded were put into ambulance
and they were en route to the
nearest hospital.
Outdoor Amateur to Rescue Responder
“We are not just businessmen, all of
our team members are big fans of
outdoor sports and are adventurers.
" said Mr.Fang, the president of
this organization. “Mr. Jing is an
enthusiastic helicopter pilot, who
has received awards in many
competitions; Mr. Cheng, a racer
constatly updating racing tactics; Mr.
Wu who is a certified instructor for
China Climber Association. We also
have several divers, one psychologist
and even a laser electronic
technician!”
People call Yiwu a safe city in virtue
of last ten years safe record without
any big fires or natural disasters.
So what is the motivation of those
outdoor enthusiasts to start a
rescue team? In Mr. Fang’s opinion,
